Challenge:

The Department of Defense (DoD) sought robust security solutions to fortify its headquarters against
evolving threats. They required comprehensive electronic security systems encompassing Closed-Circuit
Television (CCTV), Access Control, Control Rooms, and Military Officer Security Training

Approach:

Upon being engaged by the DoD, our team focused on delivering cutting-edge security solutions. We addressed both electronic and networking security requirements, deploying expertise in CCTV infrastructure and control room optimization. The collaboration spanned various critical projects, each crucial for bolstering the DoD’s security framework.

1. DoD Karen – The Moran Project (July – September 2022):
   • Installation of 110 high-tech CCTV Cameras to enhance surveillance capabilities within the DoD Karen
   premises.
2.  Hurlingham Facility:
   a) CCTV Installation & Perimeter Security (2019):
   • Deployment of comprehensive CCTV coverage across the entire Ulinzi House facility and its 13-acre perimeter wall for heightened security measures

b) Structural Cabling Implementation (June – October, 2020):
• Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, structural cabling installation in Ulinzi House was
successfully executed, ensuring seamless connectivity and system integration.

Engagement:

Our collaboration extended beyond system installations. We worked closely with senior-ranking military officers, providing specialized training to over 25 officers. The training covered diverse areas such as security protocols, control room operations, access control systems, and electronic surveillance techniques, particularly focusing
on CCTV technology.

Outcome:

The successful implementation of these multifaceted security solutions earned Opticom Kenya Limited a commendation from the DoD. Their satisfaction led to an expansion of our engagement, entrusting us with additional pivotal projects.
Notably, the inception of the new Mara Defense Center saw us tasked with the development of advanced surveillance solutions, particularly the setup and optimization of a state-of-the-art control room.
